Love Notes

Love Notes is the name of an email folder I’ve created at nearly every job I’ve had. This is where I store messages of appreciation received by colleagues. I’ve always made a point of saving these so I can remind myself of the value I bring to the workplace, in the words of the people with whom I collaborate.

The most recent message came to me on January 4, 2024 via an employee chat channel within the VPN hosted by a client. I had hopped online to help ferret out information needed for a prospect finalist presentation the next day. After finding the information the client was looking for, I made a pithy reference to the value of teamwork.

My client, an experienced proposal professional replied,

“You are the best teamwork person I’ve ever worked with Gretchen. And I’ve had some very good experience, so that’s saying something.”

This has buoyed me through the four deadlines I’ve had this week alone.

Do you save “love notes” at work? Why or why not?
